The Pi coding agent, built into VS Code.

Pendant brings Pi into VS Code as a focused, lightweight sidebar and editor tabs. It uses Pi directly, loads your configuration, extensions, skills and prompts, and supports every model available in your setup. Around it come modern touches: image attachments, Mermaid diagrams and other rich output, a focused view, and more.

Soon available for the desktop.

Why Pendant?

It started as a tool I needed for my own use. I liked working with Pi, and my whole workflow lives in VS Code. So I built Pendant to give Pi a home in the editor, right next to my code. I thought it could be useful to others too.

Free, built for the Pi community.

  • Pi built in Pi is built into Pendant. No separate Pi or Node installation is required.

  • Subagents Follow subagent runs step by step, right in the chat.

What Pendant does not do

Pendant does not

  • Provide models, subscriptions or credits
  • Sandbox the agent or ask before it runs a tool. Pendant will support sandboxing soon; follow issue #367.
  • Route anything through a Pendant server, need an account or collect telemetry
  • Keep concurrent sessions from stepping on each other in the same workspace. Use separate worktrees to keep their edits apart.
